Unlocking a Skyward Vision Pro Experience

Picture a world where the sky isn’t just above; it’s an explorable canvas of real-time information. Inspired by a love for planes and the wonders of flight, our Technical Art Director, Lee Spooner, conceptualised an Apple Vision Pro experience based on the FlightRadar24 app. Curious about the potential, Lee envisioned how the headset could allow you to glance up, identify planes and find out further information. While utilising the benefits of real-world tracking and access to real-time data, this concept video showcases its interactive possibilities.

I’ve always been excited about the ability to overlay information onto the real world, and with the advancements of headset technology such as the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3, and the progress with AI large language models, we are at the point where we can have discussions with the devices that we wear to help us to understand and visualise the world around us in a way that aids our day to day life, whether that is helping to educate us or provide support where needed.”

A Vision Takes Flight

Living beneath the Heathrow flight path, Lee had access to filming a multitude of planes. By tracking their flights and capturing real-time telemetry, he laid the foundation for overlaying digital content into the real world, mirroring the Vision Pro headset’s capabilities. Using Apple’s Vision OS Figma board, we created bespoke UI panels for different stages of the narrative. From detailed plane information to real-time weather updates, they illustrated how the interactive experience could take shape.

To add a touch of personality and bring the visuals to life, we generated VOs for three characters, including an onboard AI Assistant, using Eleven Labs. One of the fun things about ElevenLabs is its ability to create lines with subtle variations, accentuating different words to produce realistic outputs.

The Future Unveiled

Flight Rad-AR presents a sneak into a not-so-distant future of spatial computing where devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, allowing us to explore hidden data intuitively through awe-inspiring experiences.
