Laser-targeting projection installation Solarflare built for Nike NOCTA's London launch with Metallic Inc at The Truman Brewery. TouchDesigner-driven. Visitors target moving laser points for a live score.
NOCTA SIGHT
Nike NOCTA's London launch at The Truman Brewery needed a floor activation that matched the energy and visual language of the collection. We built a laser-targeting installation with Metallic Inc: a TouchDesigner-driven system that projects targeting reticles across the venue surfaces, and lets visitors aim, lock and score. The targets move. They react to being hit. They feed a live score visible across the space. The NOCTA SIGHT concept came from the collection's precision aesthetic and the hunting-season codes running through the campaign. We translated that into something physical and competitive that worked in a dark venue with a crowd moving through it at launch-event pace.
TouchDesigner at event pace
The technical build was led by our TouchDesigner pipeline, handling projection mapping onto irregular Truman Brewery surfaces, real-time target tracking, collision detection and the scoring system simultaneously. The interaction had to read instantly to someone who had never seen it before and who was three drinks into a launch party. We kept the mechanic to a single clear action: find the target, aim, fire. The system does the rest.Calibration was done on-site during build day with the actual projection surfaces, because The Truman Brewery's architecture does not conform to a clean geometric brief. Every surface was mapped individually. The result was a seamless projection that felt like the targets belonged to the building rather than being superimposed on it.
Physical interaction for a streetwear launch
Brand activations at fashion and streetwear launches usually sit in one of two categories: passive displays that look good in photographs but do nothing, or interactive gimmicks that feel cheap next to the product. NOCTA SIGHT was designed to sit in neither category. The targeting mechanic is genuinely competitive and drew repeat attempts from guests across the evening.Metallic Inc brought the campaign creative framework, we brought the technical build. The collaboration was clean and the handover to the event production team on the day was straightforward. The installation held up across a full evening in a busy London venue.
