The Bottle Knows Where It Comes From
Vino Vision is a mixed-reality wine-tasting experience built for Apple Vision Pro. Hold a real bottle in front of you and the Vision Pro overlays a full tasting experience directly onto the physical object: tasting notes emerge from the label, terroir visuals build around the bottle in the shared spatial field, and the information is positioned and scaled as though it belongs to the wine rather than to a screen. The proof of concept was built to explore what spatial computing adds to one of the most sensory and story-rich consumer experiences there is. Wine is already a medium where provenance, landscape and language do enormous work. Vision Pro gives us the tools to make those invisible elements visible in the same space as the physical object.
Anchoring Digital Content to a Physical Object
The technical approach anchors the AR content to the bottle itself using object recognition rather than marker tracking, so the overlay persists as the bottle is moved, tilted and handled during tasting. The tasting note typography was designed specifically for the Vision Pro display density and for the lighting conditions of a wine-tasting context, which tends toward ambient, low-key light rather than bright screens. The terroir visuals, vineyard footage, geographic imagery, seasonal material, were composed as spatial scenes rather than flat video, which means they fill the space around the bottle rather than appearing as a window in the air. Shared spatial cues let multiple Vision Pro users experience the overlay simultaneously.
