Tablet-run quiz, challenge registration and live leaderboard system Solarflare built with Broadwick for Amazon's stand across 15 HYROX races in Europe.
Built for the HYROX crowd
HYROX is the world series of fitness racing, and Amazon is now its official global partner. Working with Broadwick, we built the digital layer for Amazon's stand as it tours 15 HYROX races across Europe between September and December 2026. Two experiences sit at its heart. Athlete DNA is a quick quiz that matches training style and goals to an athlete profile, with a QR code that opens a curated Amazon storefront for that profile. Hold the Weight is a timed grit challenge that brings race-day energy into the booth. The audience matters here. HYROX athletes are competitive, they know their numbers, and they turn up wanting to be tested. The stand had to match that. People needed to see the challenge, sign up in seconds, and watch their name go up on the board while they were still out of breath.
One tablet, one screen, no extra kit
Brand Ambassadors run the whole thing from an Amazon Fire tablet. A participant enters their details and signs a digital waiver on the tablet, then joins a holding list while they take on the challenge. When they finish, the Brand Ambassador selects them in the console and logs their time, and they appear on the live leaderboard straight away. Each athlete is tagged Beginner or Pro to match the two challenge weights, so both levels compete on one board and everyone can see where they stand. The leaderboard runs as a portrait web page in the screen's own browser, so there's no media player to configure. The same page plays the stand's other content in rotation, including Amazon × HYROX brand film and calls to action for the quiz, the challenge and the storefront. That meant no extra hardware and nothing for the on-site team to set up beyond pointing the screen at a URL. We also made a point of collecting as little data as possible. Players appear as a first name, surname initial and nickname, and email is optional.
One system, 15 venues
A touring activation needs software that copes with constant set-up, pack-down and handover between crews. One admin console controls every venue: create and rename locations, run more than one event at once, export waiver records and reset boards between races. Shared timing logic keeps the tablet console and the big screen in perfect step on rank, and every time is validated before it reaches the board. Once the screen has cached its content, it runs comfortably on a 1Mbps connection, so it travels well from venue to venue. For Amazon, the stand gives HYROX athletes something they actually want: a moment to compete, a result they can see, and a profile that leads straight to kit built for how they train. The platform is designed to grow with the tour, and a photo-capture moment that sends athletes their shot and feeds a live collage on the main screen is next.
